traditional dance,
from the couple dances of Europe
to percussive dancing of the Appalachian mountains

Kerry Fletcher is a traditional dancer of many styles, from waltzing to clogging. She is an experienced dance workshop leader and an accomplished performer.

NEWS: Kerry choreographs a jig for Huckleberry Finn & Jim!
Huck dance
I’ve just had the enormous pleasure of spending some time with the very talented and exuberant cast of HUCK teaching a short dance for their fabulous production written by James Graham from the classic novel by Mark Twain. A messy, raucous and uncouth epic – with tons of live music, singing and, of course, a bit of a polka around! This promises to be a real treat of a play – and it’s on a national tour from 11th February - go and see it and be transported into a wonderful world of amazing adventures!

Currently, she co-choreographs and performs with:

  • JigJaw - a new band singing to dancing & dancing to singing, with Janet Russell, Rosie Davis & Frances Watt
  • Circa Compania - Karen Tweed's music & dance ensemble

and guests with:

Her performance history includes: Broken Ankles - acclaimed Appalachian cloggers, The Stepback Project and The 4K Plot. She also co-choreographed & performed with The Chase and Shaking the Tradition at Chisenhale Dance Space, London.

Most recently, her education work has been with Tapatak and TAPs (Traditional Arts Projects). With both of these organisations she provides foot percussion and English & American dance to their inter-cultural work. They have been developing and delivering workshops in schools, at festivals & community events and in immigration removal centres with refugees and asylum seekers. She is a visiting lecturer on the folk music degree course at Newcastle University and for several years she has been a tutor on the Folkworks summer schools.

As well as running her own community dance workshops, she teaches at festivals & dance clubs all over the country, both solo and with Meridian, Tim Brooks and Ravi Sawney & Daniel Wolverson.
