Kerry has experience of a wide range of traditional dance styles. She
used to dance with Oyster Morris and Paddington Pandemonic
Express Molly dancers, (co-writing all of their contemporary folk
dance repertoire). She has also worked with Fiona Larcombe both in
Shaking The Tradition and as a duo, combining percussive step dance
with Fiona's unaccompanied traditional ballad singing and fiddle music.
Kerry has spent much time in Europe, particularly Sweden and France, both
working and of course, learning dances! She now specialises in teaching
the dances of these countries.
Her performance experience ranges from the 1980's folk projects The
Return of the Complete Dancing Master (with The Albion Band)
and The Everlasting Circle, to a recent appearance in
Stepback at the Purcell Room on London's South Bank and with the 4K Plot at Baltic, Gateshead.
Her training includes both classical and academic work. Having studied
Ballet in her teens, Kerry returned to study as a mature student,
achieving qualifications in; the Dance Foundation Course at Tower Hamlets
(including Ballet, Contemporary and Jazz), the Dance Leaders in the
Community Course, and City & Guilds Adult Education Teaching
Certificate part 1 at Morley College, where she taught on the
Performing Arts Access courses, and the City & Guilds adult education teaching certificate, as well as weekly clogging classes.
