I come from a background of working with special needs children, and so I knew there had to be more out there for my own son, Joshua, who was diagnosed autistic in 1993 at the age of two and a half. I began to research the various treatments and therapies available, which were so much less then than they are now. I found AIT through a friend and colleague and attended several seminars given by Aditi Silverstein at the Hale Clinic in central London. Joshua was treated by Aditi in 1994 at the Hale Clinic. This was a major turning point, not only for my son but for all my family. Joshua made remarkable progress in his communication, behaviour and social skills. I believe that we find some things in life that we need at the right time; for me, that was the right thing at the right time. This gave me new hope for Joshua's future, and mine, as I then went on to be trained by Aditi to become an Auditory Integration Training practitioner, qualifying in 1995. In 1996, Rosemarie Mason and I set up a company called Communication Therapies. I travelled the length and breadth of the country treating children and adults with a multitude of difficulties. After a short career-break following the birth of my third son, I decided it was time to work from home. AIT is a treatment I remain passionate about, and I enjoy welcoming people into my home for treatment. |
